Supporting Home Education Families

Staying True To Our Roots

Damion & Tracy Dunlap, the founders of Genesis Community School homeschooled their five children for more than a decade. Having faced the challenges of homeschooling, their hearts are tender towards the needs of the local homeschooling community and want to partner to support families as much as possible. Each year we aim to grow our services. In the future, we hope to add a science lab, more clubs, and a la carte high school courses.

Here is what we have to offer for this current school year.

Homeschool Resources 2023-24

Study Hall (Donation)

Middle and high school homeschooling students can come to study with other students during our study hall blocks. Study hall blocks are from Monday - Thursdays 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m for the mornings and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the afternoons. Parents will need to schedule study hall time a week in advance as seats will be limited. Parents are also responsible for assigning work for their students.

Clubs (Cost Varies)

On designated Monday afternoons we will host a speech club through NCFCA, the National Christian Forensic Communications Association. This club helps students to become confident and competent communicators through various styles and formats of public speaking. Students ages 12 and older will get to participate with the debate club through NCFCA on Friday mornings. Debate club is a comprehensive program and can count towards high school credits! Homeschool parents will be required to attend speech and/or debate club meetings with their children.

Special Area ($200/quarter)

Every Friday after lunch, students will rotate through three special areas: music, art and physical education. Each class runs for a quarter (7-8 sessions) and is designed to grow students in mind, body and soul! Our unique physical education classes get students out and moving in the community through hiking, bowling, and more!
